ROUNDS 1 & 2

Many of the Nambucca Strikers Under 8s are in their 3rd or 4th year of playing small-sided-football (some started extra young). Coach Paul Cue says, “I try to keep it fun but with heaps of positive encouragement, never anything negative wherever possible.” All training drills involve a ball with a mix of activities to keep it interesting. The Strikers 8s are showing some impressive football skills and game play. Cuey believes the experience gained by regular matches with other clubs, particularly by being in a ‘hub’ with Urunga, helps the kids a lot. Their 1st game this season was against Macksville in wet conditions yet they played extremely well & dominated the game. Their 2nd game against Urunga was a much more even affair with several missed opportunities but a very high level of football for their age. Last weekend’s home game against Dorrigo was also a strong performance, highlighting their improving passing skills and their hunger to score goals. Plus their close ball skills and confidence to take on other players was awesome! The small-sided-football format is really paying off.
