ROUND 2 REPORT

The Under 12s are in their first year of competition on the full size football field. The Strikers’ team work continues to develop – forwards Lawso Tinmouth and Heath Blain used the classic ‘wall pass’ to get through the Urunga defence many times. The Bellingen ‘Keeper scrambled well to make a number of saves. The Strikers scored when Lochie Paix stabbed the ball past the keepers reach. Trent Stack did a spectacular job of controlling a pass from Lochie, popping the ball up and smacking it on the full to score from outside the box. Tamara Wood executed quick, accurate tackles and was outstanding in defence. The Strikers showed plenty of spirit, particularly young Nic Hickey when he headed away two of Bellingen’s shots in quick succession, off the goal-line. However, Bellingen were persistent and found the back of the net six times to win the match.
